Whispered.

Hello and Welcome!
I wanted to show you what I am working on. I decide to take a class called Whispered Lace. It sounded fun and the sample quilt is lovely, The quilt shop called Creative Quilt kits is not too far from me but, at rush hour it is taking me about 15-20 minutes longer to get to this shop in Brighton. Thelma is our instructor and she is doing a great job at teaching us some of what she know.
We are working on the quilt that is of the cover of Modern Neutrals by Amy Ellis.

Here is another look at some of my squares.
I am looking forward to this being done. It has been keeping my busy working on the time schedule, I have to have all my squares put together and squared up by Thurs. I still have quite a few blocks to assembly, yikes! Just keep sewing, just keep sewing... Not sure what I want to use for the backing, maybe some thing bright as a surprise or stick with neutrals??

I have been traveling a bunch lately and I have been searching out quilt shops when I am in another town. This past weekend I was in Westfield IN for my daughters soccer. I stopped into two quilt stores. The first one was Always in stitches, in Noblesville IN. What a fantastic shop, lots of fabric, wonderful samples on the wall and such friendly and helpful ladies working in the shop. This store had quilting, needle point, felting and knitting.
Here is my haul from this store.

This adorable tree skirt pattern from Shabby Fabrics, 4 Fat quarters, and the lovely Moda fabric that ever thing is sitting on. The ladies at the shop knew I was visiting the area and told me about another shop close by ( about 15 min ride).
I was so impressed that this shop was telling me about another store. I asked my husband if he minded going to another store and he was game, since my daughters game was not until 5pm and she was sound asleep in the back seat.
This shop was called Quilt Expressions which is located in Fishers IN. This is a more modern quilt shop, lots of wonderful batiks, lots of Christmas fabric, and beautiful graphic fabric.  The owner was super sweet we had a lovely conversation and she even gave me her card with her cell number and said if I was ever in town again to call her and come spend the day quilting! How sweet is that? I  Picked up a package of 4.5" by WOF blue batiks, my plans are to made into a baby quilt top with this. If you are ever in Fishers or Noblesville IN please stop in these shops, you will not be disappointed!
Wishing you all quilty hugs, Heide

  1. Wow, that Modern Neutrals quilt is going to be gorgeous! It reminds me of lattice work, like pretty garden screens. Good luck on your tree skirt, too!

  4. I love every quilt in that book! This will look so lovely in those colors. Maybe a soft green for a backing? That would be soft but also have a bit of color. I'm sure whatever you choose will be perfect!

  8. Your neutral blocks look so calm and restful. They are beautiful, Heide. I hope you finish them by your deadline without feeling too rushed. For me that takes away a bit of the fun of making a quilt.

  11. Hi Heidi! I love your haul from Always in Stitches (red is my favorite color) and I'm sure the blue batiks from Quilt Expressions are just as lovely. It has been my experience that quilters are some of the nicest people you could ever meet! Your Modern Neutral squares are coming along nicely too. I think a medium to dark neutral on the back would be nice.
