Pets on Parade

It time....the day has come!! The wonderful hop of  2016 Pets on Parade, this is the blog hop of all the wonderful pets out there that help us quilter. The hostess is Snoodles over at Lily Pad Quilting.
There a bunch of prizes but, even better PETS!
This is Guinness...he is my best bud. This guy is one of the best dogs that I have ever had. He is sweet, quirky, loving and he makes me laugh daily!
Since I started sewing I have been looking for a pattern for Airedale terriers. I could find Silhouettes which is great, I just am not so good at cutting things out that have unusual edges. Such as concave or convex  curves. I feel like a kindergartner with new very dull  scissors! LOL. I do like to paper piece. A few weeks ago I contacted Janneen Van Niekerk- Quilt art Designs and Commissioned a paper piece pattern of my furry guy.

In my daughters room. Silly boy!
With out further Ado........

Here is my Boy Guinness in fabric! This  was such a fun challenging piece for me  to make....the eyes alone were mind boggling! it reminded me of iris folds...but with sewing.  21 sections, 12 different fabrics and a few OH NOS along the way! He is put together and I am very happy with how it turned out.
Janeen was great to work with all I had to do was send her a photo of Guinness and with in a few day she had the 16" pattern done! It took me longer than that to build up the courage to start this project!
Mom....Please I have things to bark at!!
Now that I have the piecing done....not sure how to finish him. I want to send him to the quilter to have him quilted. My family said I can do it, glad they have faith in me! I might frame it or even turn it into a bag. Not sure....still working on this but what ever I do I will share with you. If you have any ideas I would love if you would share them with me.  Thanks for stopping by! Be sure to stop by Lily Pad Quilting to check out everyone's amazing work and super pets.
Until I see you again, Wishing you Quilty Hugs~ Heide  and Guinness.

  3. Adorable, I am a sucker for a terrier face. We had Welsh Terriers for years, but none right now. I miss having a furkid, but will wait until retirement to have another.

  4. The likeness is really great! I believe you can quilt it yourself if you just look at the photo, mark the directions of Guinness's facial hair on your quilt and then just follow the lines!

  11. Ooo, I have an idea! Over at Sew Fresh Quilt's blog, Lorna usually quilts her pieces with wavy lines and she uses her walking foot. I think your piece would make a great pillow. Or a center for a medallion quilt. No matter what you end up doing, it's going to be cute!

Love your block, and yes, you will have to make it into something special. Perhaps a wall-hanging, where you can admire it every day?
