Hello and Welcome! Today I have a finish for you. My Neighbor was expecting her third boy any day while this was being made, she has since had her sweet baby boy on the 4th. I wanted to make something for her, with this being her third boy and came up with this cute baby quilt. I have made this block before you can see it here.
Not to mention baby quilts are super fun and adorable to make.
I just love making this cute little foxes. They are easy to put together and they go rather quickly once you start! The Pattern is by Elizabeth Hartman and can be found here on her blog. PSSST.....She also has her new pattern ( Firefly and Lepidoptera) release out and OMG....They look so cool!!!
So when I was thinking about this quilt, I made this with mostly left over supplies. The blue Batiks are something I had in my stash for a different project that never happened. The BG fabric is what was left over from a large backing, of course the batting is something that I had in my stash. The backing was again left over from another quilt that I made for my daughter. The only thing that I did not have was the thread that I used for the quilting....had to run out to the quilt shop to pick some up...Oh darn!! LOL. I usually only use Ariful 2000, because it blends with everything.
The glasses just add a touch of fun to this already cute pattern.
I also tried some thing new with this, the Flange binding. You can see tutorial here and here. I only wish there was a way to hand stitch this on....even though it turned out better than I expected with machine finishing it.
I really, really like this technique and will be using this again. I like how it just adds some interest in the gray BG.
On a funny note, I showed this to my Son who is 18 and 6ft tall...he was very impressed with the quilt by he did say he likes his quilts a little longer so that the quilt covers his feet and that he can pull it up to is chin. When I told him it was for a baby....he had a funny look on his face and said now he knows why it was so small!
Oh....Next week it is my turn for the New blogger blog hop. Hope to see you then.
One last look at this before I go.
Thanks For stopping by....Wishing you all Quilty Hugs~ Heide
