Mommy hugs.

Hello and Welcome, this week I have a quilt to show you that I made for my Son for when he heads off to college.  Above is a photo of it before I sent it out to get quilted. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I wanted something masculine and he can use any colored sheets that he would like to use. I did not want to use his college colors, I am sure he will get enough green and white when he heads out to Michigan State!
Here is a close up of the fabric. I used Moonshadow Dance (Andover fabric) by Kim Schaefer
and now I have the finished quilt.
I had the quilter do a rectangular pattern thru out the quilt.
I am really happy with how this turned out and he loves the Minky dot  fabric that I used for the back of the quilt. I had to go down stairs to steal the quilt back to get these photos! I am calling this one Mommy, mommy, Mommy hugs- because when ever he needs me or want something he calls me Mommy 3 time, LOL.  I even tried to make a pillow out of the extra fabric.
Thanks for stopping by and wishing you all quilty hugs!

  2. Heide, that's the perfect man quilt for a young college guy. I think you were smart to keep it in neutral colors too. You can't beat that Minky either for surrounding someone in a Quilty hug!

  3. So cute!! I made my kid's beds when we took them to college. They liked that. I'm making a quilt now and backing it with minky. Any tips on quilting with it? I've hear it is difficult.
