Christmas in July.

Hello and Welcome!

I wanted to join in on the Christmas in July posts. I actually found this tutorial on The Crafty Quilter, 
Julie Cefalu has so many wonderful tutorials on her site.  
This one is in her Christmas once a month tab. I decided to make one to decorate with come the Christmas holiday.
I found my fabric at my LQS and it was in the clearance area...Yeah Clearance! I also like how it went with the center fabrics which I had in my stash.  I used 3 " squares of the lighter fabric and made half square triangles and then cut them down to 2.5". Making only 12  and I alternated the lighter inner fabric and darker fabric used in the center square.

Then I got to work watching this You tube video  on how to weave ribbon to make the wreath.. Ribbon weaving is super fun and easy...I made quite a few of these ribbons.

A few more rows added on, it really goes very fast and did I tell you... it is super easy! This would also look super cute on a Christmas card...cute and easy  to use up the left over ribbon.
When I got the desired length of ribbon weaved ( about 2 yards of a 1/4 " grosgrain ribbon) I ended up sewing the ends together with my machine and got this.  Added some tacky glue to attach the white bow.

How cute is this wreath!! The little white bow is from a Pintrest post that I saved for my card making....you see I am bow challenged,  I can not make a bow without some sort of help and this tutorial was just the thing. I did find using a larger fork worked better for this size wreath. My dinner forks made the bow too small.

The letters are on The Crafty quilters site in Julies tutorial and they are a free down load...THANKS JULIE!! I used Lara Buccella's Crafted Applique technique to attach the letters. 

 Some simple quilting about 1 inch apart ...I think some sparkly thread would of looked super!   I use some scrap batting, I  also added some scrap fabric for a backing, You do not have to add this because you will never see the back but, I did. This could be a cute pillow, or a simple wall hanging.

I used the same tacky glue to attach the wreath once I had it all quilted and trimmed.
Then I cut down a foam board to use as a backer and taped the back to attach it to the board. Now I need to find a frame to stick this into so I can hang it up at Christmas time.
 What do you think? I am happy with it and think it would look great up on the wall at Christmas time.  A quick and easy project for a gift or just for you self.
